The other day, I was thinking about how I got into crafting. I wondered if it was my own wedding that prompted the desire to design and create invitations. But then I remembered that I always had a thing for paper. When I was in elementary school, I used to collect all sorts of stationery. I have very fond memories of looking at them over and over - admiring them and safely putting them away, making sure not a single one gets folded or creased.
collections then...
Can you believe that up to now I still have this collection? I used to buy a bundle and save a piece from each pack. Sometimes I thought about using them, but then I tell myself that I can probably pass it on to my daughter. I can only hope she'd appreciate them as much as I do.
I also remember helping my mom - now a retired school teacher - decorate her classroom. I was always assigned to help with the cutting or drawing. I think I complained a little about having to do the work, but deep inside I really enjoyed it.
I have three sisters. Between the four of us we have a total of eight children. Coming from a big family such as ours, it'd seem that we have something to celebrate every weekend - plenty of opportunity for me to come up with invitation designs! I'm lucky (and happy) to have these family occasions where I can apply the paper-crafting skills I've learned through the years. And up to now my love for paper continues. I just adore all the different types of print, design, and texture. I truly am paper-charmed!
